Your lyric stays yours. We analyse it and then discard it. It’s never saved, and never used to train AI. The AI only reads your lyric. It never rewrites it or writes lyrics of its own.

The ten lyric styles

These are the classifications SongwriterLink uses to describe how a lyricist writes, separate from genre.

Narrative

Tells a story — characters, scenes, a clear arc from beginning to end.

Confessional

Personal, diary-like, drawn directly from the writer's own experience.

Poetic / Symbolic

Built on imagery and metaphor; meaning is layered and open to interpretation rather than stated plainly.

Literary

Precise, structured language that reads as craft — the lyric could stand alone on the page.

Social Commentator

Engages with politics, culture, or society directly.

Atmospheric

Mood and texture come first; the words create a feeling more than they tell you something.

Minimalist

Sparse, economical — says a lot with very little.

Cinematic

Vivid, visual, scene-based — reads like watching something unfold.

Concept

Built around a single unifying idea or extended conceit, sustained across the whole lyric.

Mythic / Surreal

Draws on myth, folklore, ritual, or dream-logic — archetypal, otherworldly, not bound by realism.

Questions

How does the lyric style analyser work?
It reads your lyric against SongwriterLink’s ten lyric classifications, from Narrative and Confessional to Minimalist and Mythic / Surreal, and tells you which one it leans towards, plus a second style if it’s a clear mix. It points to the lines and techniques that place it there.
Do you keep my lyric?
No. Your lyric is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, for analysis and then discarded. We don’t save it or add it to any database, and Anthropic doesn’t use it to train AI. All we keep is an anonymous count of how often the tool is used and which styles come up.
Will it change or rewrite my lyric?
Never. AI is used only to analyse your writing. It doesn’t rewrite, improve or suggest lines, and any line it quotes back is checked word for word against what you pasted.
Why is there a daily limit?
Each analysis costs us a little to run, so to keep the tool free for everyone you can analyse 5 lyrics a day.
What if my lyric doesn’t fit one style?
Most lyrics lean one way, and many mix two. The analyser names a second style only when it’s clearly there. The styles describe how a lyric is written, not whether it’s good, so there’s no wrong answer.
