As far as the multifaceted can see
Seed grains of desolation haunt my dreams
I don't know how this can be
My peewee brain can't even ask why
Little me is blue sky hungry
But even I know this ain't fly
In the endless fields of corn and grains
Those of your green and gold aplenty
There's a desert of famine
As far as the multifaceted can see
So you know how Hive Ruin came to bee
Well, there was a time when life was kind
When wildflowers played with the four winds
When clear nectar was easy to find
Now in fields of plenty we go hungry
Flying over the monoculture farms
We starve for diversity
And of all those who set out to toil
Those millions who used to bee
Now quietly feeding your rich soil
In the endless fields of corn and grains
Those of your green and gold aplenty
There's a desert of famine
As far as the multifaceted can see
Easy now before you say buzz-off
We hope your eyes are stinging to see
When plowing down the pollen field of dreams
This land was made for you and for bee
Let it come to bee in a row or two
In these fields of seed grain plenty
To fly once more to the nectar of life
As far as these five eyes of mine can see
As far as the multifaceted can see

A note from the lyricist
Eco-Folk | Defiant, Yearning | Bee colony collapse, monoculture --- I was driving with my wife, Edle, a few years ago when we came upon a huge cornfield. And I casually said to her that to a bee, this is a vast desert to fly over; not a single flower. And gosh, this hit her hard. Not long ago, we were on a drive, and she said, "There is another field that bees only know as a desert. John — that is so damn sad. Don't tell me stuff like this."
