I asked myself
Yes, I am one of the Twelve
Knowing only Eleven will ask, Is it I
Asking if he might be me
Am I one of the Twelve or one of the Eleven
Staying faithful to one perfect Son
Can I, most loved of Twelve, ask Christ who betrays us
If there's enough belief in me – for the one
For me to be one of the Eleven
Or will I be the one disloyal this day to His Son
Twelve beloved at the table heard Jesus say
Today, and one day, all will ask why -- how
One of you could ever think to walk away
But on this day only Eleven will ask, Is it I
We asked ourselves
Yes, I am one of the Twelve
Knowing only Eleven will ask, Is it I
Asking why he could be me
Am I one of the Twelve or one of the Eleven
Staying faithful to one perfect Son
Eleven lived the New Testament
Asking and learning about our Saviour
That we, Ten plus One, should teach
How the love of one perfect Son
Was brought down by ---
One of our Twelve imperfect ones
The red nails in Christ's hands
Saved far more than our Eleven
Yet it was one of our Twelve
Who taught us
Jesus would not be the only one
To have blood on his hands
Go now ask yourself
If you are one of the Twelve
Knowing only Eleven will ask, Is it I
Asking why this might be you
Am I one of the Twelve or one of the Eleven
Staying faithful to one perfect Son
Ask yourself why
Knowing only Eleven will ask, Is it I
Are you one of the Ten plus One
Or one of the Twelve
