Yeah, looks like I’ve been out of this game for waaay too long.
I was lucky as Nucky for so many years,
‘Cause a woman knew me inside and out.
But I’m finding that that half of our species,
Just can’t be figured out.
Give me honesty attention and humor they say,
And we will always get along.
It didn’t take long for me to figure out,
That couldn’t have been more wrong.
So I guess the point I’m trying to make here is,
I’ve been out of the game
for way too long.
I’m a fish outta water,
Square peg, meet round hole.
It’s stranger than stranger-things,
Could this be loneliness taking its toll?
I’ll always do the music scene,
Not really much for the bars.
I’ve even tried the singles apps,
But I guess I’m just another “back-niner”,
Shooting for birdies, and not for pars.
Like an outsider looking in,
This is not a familiar place.
A Bohemians bohemian,
I’m just lookin’ for a comfortable space.
Once again, the point I’m making,
And the reason that I wrote this song.
It really is a bitch out there,
And I’ve been out of the game
for too damn long.
But don’t take this song the wrong way,
Gun to my head I would confess.
I’ll have six feet of dirt over me,
Before I give up on myself,
Or this crazy confusing mess.
