Life gets weirder the older you get
I try to remember but all I do is forget.
What was that thing that
I just got up to do?
No, it wasn’t my car keys, my glasses or my shoes.
I’m thinking real hard,
Just racking my brain,
But my memory bank,
Is now a runaway train.
Something from the 80’s,
pops in on a hunch,
But please don’t ask me what I had for lunch.
Always trying to remember,
Not to forget.
Someone asking something simple,
Is sometimes the biggest threat.
I’m thinking real hard,
Just racking my brain.
But my memory bank,
Is now a runaway train.
We say it’s from the steroids in the chicken we ate,
We say it’s from the shots our parents forced us to take.
We say it’s from the cell phones we hold up to our ears,
Always trying to rationalize,
one of our greatest fears.
I’m thinking real hard,
just racking my brain.
But my memory bank,
Is now a runaway train.
(wait, where was I)
(What was I doing?)
(man, gettin’ old sucks)
EndA note from the lyricist
Memory loss. Is it normal or am I losing it?
