Yeah, There was Jimmy,

And Then Janis,

And Of course the great Robert Johnson.

Gone were Pigpen,

And Amy Winehouse,

And The Canned Heat of Blind Owl Wilson.

We lost Curt Cobain,

And the stones Brian Jones,

Jim the lizard king Morrison,

All were gone at 27,

and only one, was by a gun.

There are a few more legends

you may not know that you know,

But the 27 club was a hell of a blow.

Each was poisoned one way or another,

Including Robert Johnson by a drunken jealous brother.

Most couldn’t handle the adulation they had craved,

And before we knew it,

we saw too many early graves.

But not a day goes by that their music isn’t heard,

Many take their writings as the spoken word.

They say with genius there comes a price to pay,

Though that may be true, the 27 club still inspires us today.
